Here's the thing about the tv series "Game of Thrones." It gets better and better with every season. Ned Starks beheading heralding the imminent war in Season 1. The build up to the actual battle and Tyrions mind blowing performance in Season 2, and the famous jaw dropping - heart stopping Red wedding (you did NOT see that coming, unless of course you have read the original book.) Season 3 has ended with its own set of unanswered questions and sweet promises to eagerly look forward to in the upcoming Season 4. Like, obviously First of all, The major Starks have all been wiped out, so NOW WHAT? Bran is discovering his super power and Arya has the will and vengeance but is that enough to go to war against the mighty, crafty and ruthless Lannisters? In a far away land, slowly and steadily, Khaleesi's might, army and dragons are growing bigger and more ferocious with every passing season. Just and fair, strong and determined, a natural leader and a compassionate soul, her servants as well as kingdom refer to her as Mhysa or Mother make her the perfect contender for the throne. But does she deserve it more than Stannis Baratheon, who after King Roberts death is the true heir and has the most legitimate claim to the throne? But if legitimacy is the deciding factor then King Robert himself did not deserve to be sitting on the throne, as it was after his predecessor - the Mad King (who as a matter of fact was a Targayrean) was slayed, that King Robert came to inherit the throne. And speaking of inheritance, does that qualify King Roberts bastard child Gendry as a front runner and true heir because of the immediate royal connection?
Another interesting thing about the series is that each clan has a unique power - The power to enter into and control anothers mind (which by the way is my favorite of all), Wolves, Dragons, Shadowy formless child of Stannis (who/what is that?!), Giants, Cannibals, etc. which uncannily reminds me of a video game called Mortal Combat. There was a player who could throw ice n freeze n bash his opponent, whereas one could throw sharp fans to cut her enemy. One player's power was killer karate moves whereas another threw balls of fire at his foe. No wonder kids were hooked for hours and math grades nose-dived southwards, nonetheless it was INTERESTING. The point i am trying to make here is that GOT manages to bring the appeal of video game to tube and that's simply brilliant. Like an addictive video game, Game Of Thrones keeps you riveted.
And of course who can forget the SCARY white walkers! (A quick mention here about the visual of the white walker thats been created. Simply Wow...Again WOW! Now i am not easily frightened but damn that face still gives me the chills, so kudos to the team.) While the kingdoms are caught up in their 'tiny' little wars and squabbles, the actual threat is beyond the damn wall. I mean guys, wake up, get focussed, you are up against dead people. Using copious amounts of will power, i have willed myself into not reading the original book and see through the spoilers rife on the net because I LOVE being shocked, amazed and moved by each episode as it unfolds skillfully. It makes me speculate endless permutations/ combinations as in will there come a time when the warring sides will temporarily join forces to wipe out the greater threat of white walkers first? Obviously survival is a far more pressing matter than who gets to wear the crown! So Lords and Ladies, prioritize. Will then Khaleesi lend her dragons to burn all the white walkers, as thats what will stop hundreds probably thousands of them (or abundant quantities of pig shit aka wildfire that did the trick in season 2? )
And after the white walkers are taken care of could then Bran enter and control Khaleesi's mind and make her give orders to destroy her own army and dragons against her will? And then perhaps Stannis's son could step rather crawl into the picture and kill both Khaleesi and Bran as how can you fight a formless shadow, unless the Lannisters have somehow managed to crack its solution in season 4. Will they resort to pyromancy, sorcery, witch craft or will the writers come up with a totally different angle and outcome. Thats another USP of the show, it makes you think and take wild guesses. It involves you.
Then of course one is also waiting to see Theon's sister exact her 'earned' vengeance, as a sister. She has set sail on her fastest ship with her 50 best killers, wonder how that will turn out? And now with Jaime back into the picture, looking forward to his equations with Cersie, Tyrion, Tywin and Joffrey. Will Cersie and Jaime jointly plot to put off her impending wedding to Loras and also eliminate the bete noire Margarey? Or will the sly Margarey use Joffrey and outsmart the twins? Will Sansa eventually come around and fall for the irrestistibly charming and caring husband Tyrion? If yes, what about Shae? Will the onion knight finally bury the hatchet with and become a follower of the Red Priestess? Will Stannis truly be a King as he sees in the fire or is it just a trick? Will King Robert's bastard survive the wrath of the Red Priestess? What is next
in store for Khaleesi? Is the latest entrant in her army trustworthy? Will Arya return to the mysterious man from season 2 and sharpen her skills to go to war? What does the gentle yet dangerous Varys truly want? Will the over ambitious Lord Baelish, who hasn't been upto some mischief for quite long, wreak sudden havoc? And what about the white walkers? Like a game of snakes and ladders, Game of Thrones is full of unexpected twists and turns, palace conspiracies, lying and hiding, back stabbing, political ambition, strong characters, revenge and valor, magic and fantasy...oooh....With all its key ingredients in place Game of Thrones is a perfect, potent cocktail, you can't get enough off!
Hope Season 4 is bigger, better and more mind boggling.
